Power Line Repair Services
The aging infrastructure of the electrical transmission grid coupled with increasingly severe weather conditions has boosted the need for cutting-edge inspection methods. Haverfield Aviation, with its 30 years of experience, is uniquely positioned to offer its customers end-to-end emergency response solutions that can address those needs, before an outage can occur due to weather damage.
Working closely with our customers, we develop programs that take steps that include comprehensive visual inspections that can be translated into proactive maintenance that include helicopter power line repairs, replacements, maintenance and upgrades to anything. Fortifying the system and protecting your customers against outages caused by severe weather conditions.
In addition to the core services that we already offer, our proactive plans offer data management, data management software, and industry leading inspection methods such as X-Ray, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Infrared, and LiDar.
Aerial Marker Ball Installations
Haverfield’s airborne methodology is the only practical and efficient way to install the 36-inch aerial markerballs on overhead lines. See for yourself the professionalism and expertise Haverfield brings to this procedure.
Energized Insulator Washing
Haverfield’s EHV Wash System is the fastest, most efficient and effective insulator washing system in the world. Environmental contamination on insulators can cause lines to short-circuit. High-pressure water washing is the answer to this problem, but access to cumbersome ground equipment can be expensive and difficult. Haverfield’s airborne system makes insulator washing safe, easy and inexpensive.
The combination of extremely high pressure, accuracy and water volume defines the EHV Wash Systems superior quality for insulator washing and has been successfully used around the world with superior results.
Whatever the terrain or environment, the EHV Wash System can be used on energized or de-energized lines and is conducted as a Live-Line/Bare-Hand operation.
Energized Spacer Change Out
In 1985 Haverfield Aviation revolutionized the application of changing out spacers (removing and installing) on energized transmission power lines. That first helicopter spacer project became the “gold standard” and established Haverfield Aviation as an industry innovator. Since that time Haverfield Aviation has changed out over 350,000 spacer dampers throughout the United States and Canada. Haverfield Aviation has performed more major spacer change-out projects throughout North America than any other operator.
Projects that used to take many months to complete are now done in a fraction of the time while maintaining “full electric service” and with virtually no impact to the environment. The following video was specifically filmed to focus on our commitment to provide the utility industry with the latest innovations and safe business practices. The Haverfield Aviation team is proud of our contribution to the utility industry over these past 29 years and we look forward to supporting your future needs as well.
Energized Insulator Replacement
Haverfield Aviation has been the industry leader in the helicopter power line arena since our inception in the early 1980’s. Projects that used to be defined as “one off” or “one-of-a-kind” are now becoming an everyday occurrence. The utility industry, in its search for customer reliability, is turning to our expertise to deliver a product that will maintain their system integrity without disrupting their power source. That product is Live-Line Maintenance or LLM.
A key to that “system integrity” has been the changing of insulators live. This has created a unique and challenging market opportunity for Haverfield Aviation. That challenge comes from the many areas such as, structure type, insulator type, circuit configuration, kV or voltage level, ROW density, under-build, etc., etc.…. When you couple these challenges with the addition of aircraft operations you create a dynamic that Haverfield Aviation has expertly mastered. The following video will outline this process from its initial concept through its highly successful completion.
Full Tension Conductor Splicing
Full-tension splicing of energized conductors is the power line equivalent of open-heart surgery. Haverfield has accumulated more experience in this procedure than any company in the world.
This procedure is very complicated and can be costly if done incorrectly. Haverfield Aviation aerial linemen have more experience in completing this procedure successfully than any other company in the world. If full-tension splicing is the equivalent to open heart surgery – Haverfield’s personnel are world-class surgeons.
